چکیده

Gary K. Fedder and Qi Jing1 Abstract A circuit-level methodology for hierarchical design and nodal simulation of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) is presented. A layout-based schematic view is introduced as a geometrically intuitive MEMS representation that is transformed into a schematic suitable for behavioral simulation. As examples of the design methodology, suspended-MEMS inertial sensors, resonant actuators and filters are designed using a small set of geometrically parameterized plate, beam, gap and anchor elements. Effects of manufacturing variations are evaluated by simply changing parameter values of the elements.

Hierarchical Mixed-Domain Circuit Simulation, Synthesis and Extraction Methodology for MEMS

Emerging results for mixed-domain circuit simulation, a component-level synthesis strategy, and a layout extractor is presented for use in design of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). The mixed-domain circuit representation is based on Kirchhoffian network theory. Micromechanical and electromechanical components may be partitioned hierarchically into low-level reusable elements. The MEMS co...

Hierarchical Design and Test of Integrated Microsystems

The advent of monolithic integration of mechanical structures with electronics has ushered an era in which microchips can sense and act as well as compute and communicate. The complex device, component and system design issues involving such integrated chips requires the development of new CAD representations, methodologies and tools. A suite of tools that simultaneously considers the mechanica...

An Extraction-Based Verification Methodology for MEMS

Micromachining techniques are being increasingly used to develop miniaturized sensor and actuator systems. These system designs tend to be captured as layout, requiring extraction of the equivalent microelectromechanical circuit as a necessary step for design verification. This paper presents an extraction methodology to (re-)construct a circuit schematic representation from the layout, enablin...
